Marathon of Miracles, the wellness and cancer prevention nonprofit, announced the launch of www.GolfToEndCancer.com at the PGA Fall Expo in August. The website is a new Online Social Network providing golfers with wellness and cancer prevention educational articles and videos, event listings, product reviews, golf and travel discounts and other helpful resources.

The site is a free, membership-driven site that MOM Co-Founder and media personality A.J. Ali hopes will reach 100,000 members by the end of 2012. Golfers who join GolfToEndCancer.com will receive a virtual membership card and a wallet membership card that will enable them to realize savings on products, earn cash back from certain purchases, receive special offers and much more. "Most importantly, members will receive a steady stream of reliable wellness information they can use to live a healthier life, lowering their risk of disease, injuries and ailments, enabling them to enjoy more time playing the sport they love," said Ali.

"The golf community is made up of leaders and we want to spread the message of wellness and cancer prevention to golfers so that they in turn can influence their employees, associates and customers in the workplace," said Ali. "If we help to usher in healthy changes in the golf community, with its inherent risks such as skin damage from the sun, toxic chemical use at many courses and traditionally poor nutritional offerings at golf courses, then we can begin to shift the tide of thinking in the greater community. We can reach a large percentage of our society simply by educating golfers, who are likely to be community leaders and corporate decision makers.

"Our message is simple: There are things you can do to greatly lower your risk of getting cancer (and heart disease, diabetes and obesity) by exercising good habits in nutrition, fitness and limiting your exposure to harmful chemicals in your environment. If you have cancer, there are even natural and holistic things you can do to aid in your healing and increase your quality of life. These are messages that people don't hear enough because they are constantly being bombarded by commercials for products that are harmful such as sodas, bad-for-you foods and even bug sprays and sunscreens that contain toxic chemical ingredients.

MOM has a goal of helping to end cancer in our lifetime through wellness and cancer prevention. A.J. and his wife Jane, a breast cancer survivor, believe that the practice of wellness at home and in the workplace can help to greatly lower the incidences of cancer. Their position is backed up by findings from the National Cancer Institute, American Cancer Society, National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other groups that agree that many cancers are preventable. "Preventing the disease before it happens is a big part of the realization of a cure for cancer," said Ali.

"GolfToEndCancer.com is a grass roots effort to empower people to be more in control of their health. There are strong financial incentives for the industry because healthy, active people play more golf, buy more golf clubs and balls, etc."

Golfers can join the social network at www.GolfToEndCancer.com and register for the virtual and wallet card at www.thewincard.net/g2ec.
