Some summertime sips worth celebrating

Bonneau Chardonnay

In a twisted nod to the Martha and the Vandellas’ classic, the Rolling Stones once sang, “Cuz summer’s here and the time is right for fighting in the street.” There seems to be plenty of that in the world right now, but when I think of summer, my thoughts turn to BBQs, women in tank tops and wonderfully refreshing wines:

2009 Peter Paul Mill Station Road Pinot Noir is one of those Pinots that can stand alone and elevate the level of conversation at the table. It’s hedonism in a bottle, with layers upon layers of scrumptious red and black fruits with gobs of velvety flowing textures. It’s a $38 pinot that I would buy without hesitation.

2008 Bonneau Los Carneros Catherine’s Vineyard Chardonnay has aromas of citrus peel and acacia that create an unctuous Chardonnay with plenty of guts. Flavors of kumquats and cream with wheat berries and white peaches are at the front of a rich flavor. $32
